Scott Thuman is the Senior Political Reporter and anchor covering the White House and Capitol Hill for ABC7 News and News Channel 8. He also specializes in reporting on national security & the war on terror and is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Citizens’ Academy. Scott came to Washington D.C. back in 2005 and for the past 6 years has brought viewers an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes in D.C. and national, political news. Whether on the campaign trail following the candidates cross-country, documenting the current administration’s battles or uncovering new details on in the war on terror…Scott lives for big story coverage. Over the years he’s filed reports from the Middle East, Cuba, Haiti, Europe and across the United States. His coverage has earned the Virginia native multiple awards including for his work on the Discovery Channel hostage situation, a 10-part series from Iraq (while traveling, shooting & producing the stories by himself), the 2008 election & infamous Florida recount of 2000. Prior to joining WJLA, Scott worked for 5 years in Orlando at WFTV and 5 years in Jacksonville at NBC12 and ABC25. Though born in Fairfax County, he grew up mostly in Florida and graduated from Florida Southern College with a Communications degree and a minor in Spanish. Scott spends whatever free time he has traveling, biking, taking photographs and volunteering for the Washington Humane Society, Living Classrooms DC & Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia.
